Salesian Mustangs Soccer Banquet Awards Night, June 2009

Having been a Personal Trainer for over 10 years now has been very exciting. I've met people from all walks of life from those whom gather change to meet with me to those whom can afford to pay me way more than I charge.
One of the things I started doing last year to add more excitement to my abilities and carreer as a Trainer was to volunteer some time at Bishop Mora Salesian Highshcool in Boyle Heights,
California. Last year around this time I started working with the Salesian Mustangs Football program which included both Junior Varsity and Varsity. In the wake of this I also started putting time with the Mustangs Soccer Team.
It was exciting to work with this great group of athletes because they had so much heart and truly believed that the program I had put together was going to help them. Many of the soccer players including the Coaches told me that they could felt the difference in their movement skills and their endurance. It was great to hear this. Nothing feels more rewarding than hearing these kinds of compliments. Listening to these guys tell me how great they felt and how resistant to fatigue they were was full-filling and heart-warming because it gave me a clue that I was on the right track. The team had a great season and they won all the way through Southern Section CIF Divisional Finals. It was exciting to watch these guys win. They credited their victories to the training I took them through but I know that Coach Sergio Villasenor played a significant factor in this, as I was his volunteer assistant. Villasenor believed in my program and gave me the oppurtunity to take charge of several workouts. The kids had fun and really put in their effort, always asking for a greater challenge and that I always did.

It was great to be at the awards banquet and my girlfriend Raquel was there to be by my side as I enjoyed this momemt with the team.
The Soccer Coaches Perez, Moises Delgado and Mark Johnson felt that we should recieve some recognition for our dedication to this great Salesian Soccer Program and that they did by rewarding me with the a special award.
The greatest feeling came to me from this. It showed me that my time was truly appreciated and holding this award and the trophy awarded to the team felt so good it is indescribeable.
Watching them win the State Semi-Finals was exciting, too! They played a tuff and agressive game but once they made it to the State Play-Offs this is where the tables were no longer in our favor. The game started very good on both ends but in the end we could not hold the competition down as we had done in all previous matchups. Either way it was a victory because to have gone this far into competition was the best thing that could happen for these kids. Last year they won in state and now as time is passing we plan to take this Soccer team to the State Championships again but with a victory and State recognition.

Congratulation Salesian Mustangs Soccer!
